Solved I was curious about an effect that seemed to occur in a post

I was in the midst of writing a response to a post yesterday and as usual I was taking my sweet time to reply, and had typed a fairly long post in response to find that in the midst the post had been moved to another section(correctly, no concerns about that). This seemed to cause me to be directed to the post not found page when I clicked the submit button. I was just curious if I was the only one that had experienced this kinda thing/if it was a glitch.

mikelinus,

I'm not sure that its a glitch so much that when you tried to post your reply, it looks for the posting based on the forum, unique ID, etc. This information changes when the thread is moved, meaning its not going to be able to find it based on the old information you had in your browser. I don't really believe there would be a good solution to that. Its just a very unlucky coincidence that you happened to load the page before it was moved but didn't finish your reply until after.

Thanks,
Justin

Sorry I should have been clear that it wasn't a complaint about the site, just a curiosity. I suppose as a general rule that it would be a rare occurrence.

thank you for the fast reply, I see now why it would make sense.

If it is a really long reply, best highlight and Ctrl C just before you post it. There's always the odd chance that something will go awry just at the wrong time and that way you can paste it in again. I've even used NotePad at times.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Yeah, I have as well. Mostly my problem is extreme absent mindedness. :).
