How hot has your processor gotten? Mine 301°

Specs: Windows XP Corporate, Pentium 4 HT wth EMT64 @ 3.00 GHz, 1 Gb.
How hot has your processor gotten? I am using a Pentium 4 531, 3.0 GHz. It made 301 degrees before shutting it self off. This happened because I had a faulty heat sink.

Back in the late 90's, early 2000's I was using a Celery 600 OC'd to 900Mhz with a passive heatsink. It hovered at 90 deg. C (190 deg f) all the time and still worked great, probably not the best idea to use passive cooling.

Opteron 185 overclocked to 3.2GHz @ 1.45v:
Idle: 45 C
Load: 68 C (x264 video encoding, both cores pegged at 100%)
Load: 70 C (gaming)
Video card temp: 83 C (gaming)
Room temp: 22 C

That's with all four of the 120mm case fans at their lowest, near-silent speed. I can get the CPU down to 34/52 by running the case fans at their highest speed, but I'd rather work with a warm, silent PC.

I don't mind the noise myself. If it sounds like a jet taking off or landing under my desk then my fans are doing their job and I am happy. My cpu gets much above 100 f I start looking for why.
