Breaking News (AP)

Today, the Supreme Court has turned down Microsoft Corp.'s appeal of a $358 million jury verdict that it infringed on MP3 patent held by Alcatel-Lucent - a global telecommunications corporation, headquartered in Paris, France,

Do you believe this may in some way cause M$ to raise the prices of their products (software & hardware) and services to offset the loss? Don't forget M$ has no known business competitors of equal clout to worry about their own survival.

Stay tuned for more news from Redmond, especially statements from MS legal eagles & CEO.

So far no public statement from M$ CEO.declaring "We are beaten."

Also, since M$ Zune & Kin are essentially MP3 players, I wonder if the Monday's Supreme Court decision prompted Ballmer to suddenly reorganize Microsoft Entertainment & Devices (E&D) Division yesterday. It is good that he hasn't thrown chairs at anyone (as he did in the past) but it is pathetic that he used E&D key managers as scapegoats by firing them under the pretense of retirement (forced, bot voluntary mind you),

Actually, the :-) was for the forced/voluntary remark; not the typo.

Ballmer can pay that judgement out of petty cash and who knows if they'll raise prices. M$ has sold over 90,000,000 copies of Windows 7 alone; I'm pretty sure those sales and the sales of Office, etc. pretty well pay the cost of doing business. Hell, we can pre-order Office 2010 Professional now for a measly 500 bucks.

Why would taking a dime from Microsoft's wallet hurt the company? I'm sure M$ is not happy, but they can still afford to light their cigars with 100 dollar bills.

A friend is a "Professor" at one of those online schools. She teaches Microsoft ofice and I think, she calls it, an integration into the school class for new students. She posed this question to me the other day.

"Who came up with the name Micro soft? And how high was this person? Was this man secure with his manhood?
