Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Yahoo worked with US spy agencies to scan users' e-mails for specific phrases. Discuss here if you think Yahoo can be trusted anymore, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

The two aren't congruent... much like Google and privacy - inspite of the latter's claims.

"... if you think Yahoo can be trusted anymore..."

Why trust them any less than you would Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, any cellular-service provider or {insert major internet-based corporation name here}?

There was a soda commercial back in the '60s where a hillbilly would exclaim
'Yahoo Mountain Dew!' Anyway, that goes through my head every time I see the word 'yahoo'.

I now pass along that catchy phrase so others may become addicted. You're welcome.

You mean something like this:

Having grown up in the area near it's first distribution (western NC/east TN), I probably saw all the "first-run" commercials...

That's probably it. I don't really remember the commercial--just the hillbilly and 'yahoo mountain dew'.

My mom's people all came from a little town in NE Arkansas. I went out there with my grandmother when I was about 10 as her sister still lived there. Sometimes the people there would mention how they liked mountain dew and I thought it was kind of neat they liked the same soda as me. I told my mother about it when I got back and she laughed and said 'oh I think they were talking about a different kind of mountain dew.'
