Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Hasboro is running an online vote to determine what new pieces to use in the Monopoly game. Discuss here if you think that Hasboro should changes the pieces, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

Keep the classic ones. It won't be Monopoly without the pieces we all know and love. Some things you just don't mess with.

My $.02

Can't executives make simple decisions anymore? Online polls absolve them of any responsibility. But I'm reminded of that episode of South Park where it was time to come up with a new mascot for the school. The lads made it a contest between a giant douche and a turd sandwich. I wonder how the monopoly voting will go.

If sales of Monopoly are down, it's because the world has has switched from board game entertainment to electronic entertainment, not because the game pieces are outdated. I don't think doing a refresh of the game is going to lead to a buyer frenzy. If anything, people will buy the old game as a collector's item. Remember what happened when Coca-Cola changed their formula & came out with "New Coke" in the 80's? It was such a disaster that within 3 months, they were forced bring back the original as "Coke Classic". Maybe Hasbro should market two versions - New Monopoly & Monopoly Classic?
