Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Uber will start offering a service where a person can offer his or her own car for rental. Discuss here if you think Uber can do to the rental industry what it did to the car-for-hire industry, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

No way I would ever consider doing that. I can see the insurance industry adding clauses to all auto insurance and possibly umbrella policies to disallow that practice.

It would be a license for renters to have a field day with "your" car. And as OtH observes the insurance companies will have a field day - humungous policy charges if the go a long with it, and who knows what else...

Reads like a mild form of madness.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Back in the dark ages when I was insane, I was a field engineer for an oil service company. I drove a company car and when said cars reached 4 years old or around 100,000 miles they were offered for sale to company employees.

The joke was don't buy one of those cars because Nails might have driven it!

Do you really think that cars rented by Uber wll be safe?
