Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Uber and Lyft drivers went on strike demanding higher pay in response to the Uber IPO. Discuss here if you think the drivers' pay is fair, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

I suspect most of the drivers signed up because they didn't want (or couldn't handle) a real job & thought this would be a great way to "set your own hours, be your own boss, & make $90K/year", just like the rideshare companies claimed (or used to claim). Uber got fined $20M for its bogus advertising.

Hey, if you don't like the pay, quit & get a better job. Isn't that the way it's supposed to work?

The appeal of these driving services was their lower rates due to less overhead than regular taxi drivers suffer with. Striking for more pay is a good way to eventually even things up. Taxi drivers must be smiling about this.
