Discuss: Shooting your Server

Specs: Windows 7
Hi all,

This week's poll question is about the disgruntled employee that, after having quite a few drinks, decided to shoot his company's server with a gun. Discuss here if you've ever wanted to do that, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks!
Justin

There are a couple in our environment I'd like to see die, but only because they're running on old antiquated hardware. We're slowly getting those moved over to modern equipment, or replacing them entirely....but as you can imagine, it's a slow process. Luckily, there's only two left and they should be gone by the end of 2011.

I've shot computers before that were mine, or threw them across the room, smashed them with something blunt, or burnt them... But I can't say I've shot a company server before, sometimes you just have to go Office Space on em. lol.

I really don't think he should be punished too much for what he did, you know, termination and be fined for the damages, but he didn't intend to, nor did he injure anyone so whats the harm. But that's just me.

Elvis was known for turning off his TV with a .45 and he never got arrested...

I'd have to fix it! . . . But it'd be worth it.

The dude got arrested for being drunk with a gun, and lying.

OH...I thought you meant a waiter.

"Hi! My name is Todd and I'll be your server today."

I've wanted to shoot quite a few of them.

What the guy could have done instead is get on the PA, say a few curse words, then pop open a few beers while exiting via the emergency slide ala the Slater school of workplace etiquette...at least then he could possibly score a Facebook fan site and guest appearances on morning news shows.

When I worked construction my boss found out I was working on pc's on the side and asked me to take a look at the network in the offices. At the time I knew nothing of servers other than it is still a computer. I just assumed a server just had much more harddrive space for storage. After spending the better part of three days trying to make heads or tells of what his personal secretary did to this machine after telling him her husband told her to do yadda yadda yadda. I think it would have been more pleasant to have tried working on a server that had been shot.
