Discuss: SD card reliability

Hi all,

This week's poll question is about Samsung announcing a new SD card that could make it through its homemade "death machine". Discuss here if you think SD cards need to be more rugged than they have been, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks!
Justin

Never gave them much thought but haven't depended on them either. I have a few that are very old come to think of it I have never had one fail.

Well, I'm glad to know they make a device sturdy enough to survive a puppy licking it. None of ya know how many PCs and consoles I've had to trash because my puppy licked 'em.

Puppies are like adorable Aliens: their spit is a highly corrosive acid. And they'll hump your face.

"Have you ever lost all the data on an SD card?"
Yes! Although, it was because a cheap external reader from 2003 didn't know what to do with my 8GB card. I should've been thinking.

I only use SD cards to move photos from my camera to the computer. Everything else gets the external hard drive or network treatment.

Oh Em Gee. I trash 8 spark plugs and 6 fan belts a week. How the puppy even gets in there I'll never know.

This reminds me...I have a GPS that intermittently doesn't recognize my SD card.

I don't have an adaptor to test the SD card elsewhere or a spare SD card to test with the GPS. Guess I gotta buy one or the other.

If it's the SD card, I'll respond to this poll saying that they need to be more rugged. ;-)
