Hi all,

This week's poll is about a new document released showing how Samsung systematically compared its phones to the iPhone. Discuss here if you think Samsung went too far, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks!
Justin

So Samsung picked up some ideas from Apple, just as Apple picked up lots of ideas from Xerox. So what?

Oh yeah, there's something new and unusual. I've NEVER heard of one company comparing their product against the competition's in an attempt to make theirs better and corner more of the market for themselves.

Isn't that called "competition"???

Honestly, if Apple is really worried about being copied, then perhaps they should never release their equipment out onto the open market. If their (Apple) competitors can't get their hands on it, they certainly can't copy/emulate it in a an attempt to make their own product better and more marketable.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

Gorg made fire. Gorgs friends could see the light, so could Gorgs enemies. Soon Morg copied Gorg and made his own fire and his friends could see the light. Not long after Morg and Gorg were at war burning eachothers camps. Many lives were lost on both sides and it was discovered that burned flesh of local animals was good. They soon opened "Morg and Gorg's Burger Emporium" down by the big rock. All was good until Gorg wanted to put cheese on the burgers and another war was started. McDonalds moved in stole all the ideas and added a few of their own and now we are the fattest we have ever been.

In the Apple vs. Samsung trial, I understand that the jurors were mostly convinced by Samsung internal emails

This should be warning to all of us to be careful what is placed in emails or other legal documents.

Yes, but isn't this the same jury that didn't find infringement but rewarded inducement anyways? I mean that's like a jury saying, "We don't think you killed him, but we're still going to send you to jail for his murder."

California jury finds in favour of a California company against a South Korean one. And they deliberated this complex question for less than two days. Who'd have thought it? And the jury was swung mainly by one (patent holding) juror. The appeal will be interesting but I doubt it will be less partisan.

Things are not going quite so smoothly for Apple elsewhere.

Legalities aside, the thought of handing Apple even more money, and restricting their competitors even more, is not one that I am happy with.

Samsung are way better with android phones and tablets because android gives you way more freedom with what you can do on it and also Apple always make things look shiny and small and slim and then charges you hundreds of pounds for it.

I was an adventurer like you once until I took an arrow to the knee!
