Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that the NSA surveillance programs allow searching of "virtually all" worldwide electronic communications. Discuss here if you think the NSA should be allowed to maintain this level of monitoring, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

I don't see how you can stop them.

It's not like it's news that all electronic communication (phones, cell phones, email etc) are monitored. At least, it's not news to those of us who have been around the internet and computers for a while.

Do I think they're too intrusive? Hell yes!

Will we ever be able to make the governments stop? Hell no!

So like everybody else, I just have to keep in mind that there is no such thing as real "privacy" any more and deal with it.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

There have been numerous articles connecting Google, Google Chrome & the NSA for several years, many of them from reputable websites, but most people blew it off as just another whacked-out conspiracy theory. In fact, when I mentioned it in one of my responses, I was hit with comments asking if I sit at my computer wearing a tinfoil hat.

Be careful what you search for:

Well... do you wear a tin-foil hat at the computer; or do you use a more stylish internally wire screened "pith helmet" - which is what any well dressed chap would in the circumstances...?
