Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Nest has reduced the price of its upcoming thermostat by $80. Discuss here if you think Nest thermostats are worth the cost, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

May be of interest when cheap enough but right now it seems like another attempt to sell unnecessary technology to anyone who feels incomplete without the latest gadget. With the minimum amount of thinking ahead a normal thermostat has served me just fine for years.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Top of the line ECM variable speed motor, variable burner furnaces come with their own dedicated thermostat. You definitely want that control. Nest is the next best thing to a dedicated stat.

I'm still happy with the ancient Honeywell analog thermostat that controls my 41 year old, 180K BTU, gas-guzzling monster of a furnace.

It even has a switch that lets me go from Heat to Cool. Hellz to the yeah!
