Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Apple's Mac OS X has turned 10 years old. Discuss here if you think it is time for Apple to move beyond the OS X system, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks!
Justin

TBH, I think that Apple will drop out of the computer market altogether in the coming years. They make far more money selling consumer devices nowadays, and they've already started by basically dropping their server line (unless anyone really fancies running a serious network on desktop computers - enterprise network on a Mac Mini anyone?). This is going to lose them any chance that they might have had in the corporate environment, and a niche home market just doesn't seem that attractive.

I don't think we'll ever see a new Apple Mac OS. Hopefully at some stage they will do the sensible thing and enable it to run on other people's hardware.

It would be *beautiful* to run OS X on PC hardware legally!

However, I honestly believe that iOS *is* the next generation of OS X, and that OS X, which is already with Lion merging into iOS, will eventually either be an iOS wannabe clone for desktops, or it will dissipate altogether, allowing iOS to take over.
