Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Dell is considering using more AMD chips in response to shortages at Intel. Discuss here if you think Intel's shortages are coming at just the right time for AMD, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

We have been stuck on 4 cores for how long? Only because intel was maximasing yield & profit margins.
AMD is just filling the gap in the market which Intel created by slowing down progress themselves.
Meanwhile Lisa Su turbo charged both AMD across the board (big steps with AMD Radeon Navi aswell)

+ intel now has issues with 10nm architecture, while AMD has very high yield on their 7nm manufacturing process with TSMC if im not mistaken. (could be global foundries).

So its 0 steps forward for intel, 2 steps forward for AMD.

meanwhile i'm rooting for the underdog, because i like some competition, even tho i have an Intel chip in my system.

Right now i would probably get an r5 3600 + sapphire RX 5700XT pulse.
But im probably going to take the weird/money safing route and bios mod my Z170-K to fit an i7-8700K/i7-8086K, like explained here:

anyways in short, the intel shortage is helping AMD with their comeback, but they had already started the comeback a few years ago ;)
