Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that the European Union has banned roaming charges when traveling within the EU. Discuss here if you think carrier roaming fees are reasonable, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

If the carrier roaming fees were reasonable then there would have been no need for the EU to take this action (ban it).

BTW Happy 4th of July to all.

I'm sure carriers in the EU will adjust charges elsewhere to maintain their revenue. Roaming fees may be gone but rates in general will go up. Count on it.

I think that if you're swanning about the place, bouncing from near to far, here one minute, gone the next, gallivanting from place to place, drifting wherever the wind may blow you and rolling like a river, no direction home, then I'd imagine the price you have to pay would seem worthwhile as you really do have the best of both worlds - the open road and the choice to make/receive calls should you elect to.
I would just like to add that this is complete speculation on my behalf as I've never discussed, been informed, or made aware of, any person's use of and subsequent feelings towards any roaming product and I'm equally ignorant as to the cost of any such service. I will concede to the fact that I've never seen ignorance as a barrier to my offering an opinion, I'll give you that.........

I suppose we should have a measure of gratitude that they haven't banned travel within the EU fullstop!!! It wasn't all that long ago a weekend in Paris with that special someone, or maybe a weekend in Amsterdam with that special 'something', wasn't so much as a feint consideration. But maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea? Is all this going places, doing things, and such like, really necessary? And if it is, could it not be done closer to home, in your own neighbourhood, perhaps? Especially with the technology most of us already have at home nowadays, just think!? The Taj Mahal with zero chance of dysentry, The French Riviera without the French, Bangkok without the idea that a bloke in a skirt is now, somehow?, all of a sudden acceptable. It's not as crazy as it seemed, now is it? So forget travel, ARRIVAL is where it's always been at!!.....
