Hi all,

This week's poll question is about the growing availability of consumer-level 3D printers. Discuss here what you think the future holds for 3D printing, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

Right now they are a bit of a toy at consumer level. There are tremendous developments in the medical field with 3D printing of framework for growth of replacement organs and such associated with stem cell research. I find the prospect of printing a new heart or kidney very exciting.
I can see there will also be great opportunities in the food industry eg. Imagine the things you could do with cake decorating using edible "ink" in a 3D printer

I was at the dentist a few weeks ago and was thinking how great it would be if they could use a 3D printer to make a crown instead of making them from molds that don't come out right half the time.
