Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Comcast has increased its broadband data cap to 1 terabyte. Discuss here if you think this will stop complaints about broadband data capping, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

Based on what I have read re' USA (and I presume the same apples to Canadian) ISP services... PossiblyComcast is trying to head off some form enforced reorganisation aimed at improving the deal for end users; and also cracking the cartel run by the ISP themselves.

Have to say that the deals - controls/terms & conditions - available in the UK (at least) are for once way better (and generally more in favour of the end-user) - than N. America.

When I visit my chums in SLC/Vegas etc. I am appalled by the restrictions and rip offs they have to endure; both for internet and phone services (cell phones included).

I think there are individual accounts that may use extreme amounts of data stream. So, it may be necessary to have some type of cap, but it should be high enough so that 95% or more of home users would never come up against a data cap.

When you get into data on cell phones the issue is not a cap but throttling down the speed.
