Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that BMW has been piloting a program called ReachNow that combines ridesharing and carsharing in Seattle. Discuss here if you think these types of services will ever replace car ownership, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

Carpooling is an ancient invention and hardly newsworthy.

Having experienced car sharing after a fashion - sharing a minicab (taxi) home from work with three others late at night - and been driven all over the universe and taking over two hours to get home... I'm not sure it would work form many. My trip would normally be about 45mins on a clear run late at night - much longer in heavy traffic. So over two hours on the above occasion - clearly demonstrates the pitfalls...

Nice to be chauffeured/driven home of course at the end of a long day, though I prefer to drive myself much of the time.
