Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news of Apple's recent announcements in the education space. Discuss here if you think Apple's prices are still just too high for schools, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

Apples' prices have long been over the top. Even in the early days of the simple all in one AppleMac box they were overpriced. Which is why the IBM clones got a hold on the market in general.

In university library/computer rooms in the late 80s there were IBM PCs and (a US made ?) clone running MSDOS (can't remember its name but it was aimed students). Usually there were also a few of the Mac all-in-one, which although easier - in fact very user-friendly - to use than the IBM/MSDOS computers, it was way too expensive for many a student. Hence the rise and appeal the clone the (name of which I cannot recall...).

Likewise MS Office for Mac is way over priced and invariably not as current or as well supported as the windoze versions. Equally Mac versions of quite a lot of useful windoze software frequently just isn't around...
