Hi all,

This week's poll question is about news that Amazon has agreed to purchase the Whole Foods supermarket chain. Discuss here if you think this will revolutionize grocery shopping, and, if you like, the poll results themselves.

Thanks,
Justin

It will probably revolutionize Amazon's profits, which is good because they are a bit hard up.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

When Whole foods started to take over assorted whole/organic food outfits in USA (I recall there being three New Frontiers in SLC area) and who knows how many in New York area... The first thing that happened was that prices went up. After a wee while one noted that not everything stocked (fresh produce) was organic; assorted other stuff started to appear...

If Amazon can restore the original concepts of New Frontiers" et alii" and keep prices down.. then fine. However I'm not holding my breath on either issue...

Sadly the bigger some outfits get the more they control the market; squeeze out genuine competition; and also often help the decline of smaller manufacturers and suppliers.

So will they be delivering groceries by drone? I guess pigs will actually be flying.

--Yes but it's a dry heat.

" I guess pigs will actually be flying."

Well if the groceries include bacon or ham products, then yes.....

Maybe DAVEINCAPS meant 'Amazon' - but that wouldn't be nice would it LOL. I used to use Amazon until they tried to push me into Amazon Prime. When I left I found most products were cheaper elsewhere.

I've always had criminal instincts though. I turn the adverts off on TV and even say tut.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

It could work both ways I suppose. I'm not an amazon member myself. I'm not a fan of membership fees.

There's a natural food chain here called 'sprouts' which is suprisingly competitive with regular grocery store prices.
