Dennis Ritchie, father of Unix and C, dies

This is sad day for Unix and C people everywhere:

Mr. Ritchie was legendary as one of the authors (Along with Brian Kernighan) of the "C" programming language.

Even on this sad day, I still smile about this late 80's joke:

Q: How did "C" get it's name?
A: It's the grade that Brian Kernighan got in his compiler course.

To have been one of the originators of Unix would have been fame enough, but that the same man also co-authored one of the most successful computer languages is almost unbelievable. Everyone's time comes, but Dennis Ritchie will be greatly missed.
