Somehow while visiting this site I have ended-up with a program installed called 'Windows System Scanner', the Publisher is Computing.net. Unfortunately it will not uninstall. Is this some sort of malware that I have somehow ended-up with? How can I uninstall this and remove it from my installed programs list. Thanks,
Nick
Hey, No it is not spyware. It is the system scanner you used to help identify the system components in your machine when you first came to the site. It only will run when you activate it off the website. It is a Java file, and, it seems, in Windows 7 (at least my and your version), it gets uninstalled immediately, but leaves the entry in the "Add Remove Programs" list. So, if you click uninstall, Add Remove Programs will say that it already has been uninstalled and ask if you want to remove it from the listing. You can go ahead and do that. I'll see about getting this bug fixed, but it may be difficult.
Thanks!
Justin
Unfortunately in my case I do not get the message saying that it already has been uninstalled and asking if I want to remove it from the listing. Just get nothing, click to uninstall, cursor changes to working for a few seconds then finishes, no error messages or anything else.
Hey, I believe its actually an issue with newer versions of Java... I uninstalled the program off this machine, then reran it, but it no longer placed anything inside of the add/remove programs. How familiar are you with using the registry of Windows? You should be able to get the program out of the list by following these instructions:

It says its for Windows XP and Vista, but I believe it will work fine on Windows 7.
