They could look like daisies with colored centers for all I care.

Yes i know but it gives an indication for newbies that the poster at least should know what they are talking about.

And i know there are exceptions and i am also aware of the old post count arguments that have happened on other sites (was a mod on another site and i am an admin of one now although not computer tech)

But if you are going to have it maybe the colours are a wee bit to similar.

I know there are more important things in the world to worry about and this post was not meant to be critical just an observation and to see if anyone else thought they were very similar.

Then you know why I say I could care less. It's bad enough when someone gets steered in the wrong direction thru misunderstanding etc., but nearly criminal when someone posts bad information just to win a medal or up their post count.

But, it's an imperfect world...

Who knows, maybe Justin will change the Bronze to Pink or something.

Hi,

Yeah, I realize they are similar. Unfortunately, the difference between the two colors really depends on monitor settings/sharpness.

Either way, when you mouse over the rating, you are given a clear text with the appropriate information. I thought that would be a good compromise for this situation.

SkipCox, not too sure about pink :)

Pink is good. Research has shown that the majority of men prefer pink while women prefer blue. That is why women tend to wear pink and men wear blue.

Opposites attract!

What's with the lollipops next to our user names? And what flavor is mine?

Hey,

Its a new design I'm trying out. I think its much cleaner. Those are "hammers" from Tom's Hardware. I like that icon better.

I thought lollipop, too.

But I'll tell you what I don't like. I don't like the color scheme for visited links. Light gray on light blue just hurts my eyes.

Gotta throw my .02 in...

re: Those are "hammers" from Tom's Hardware.

If the rating system is supposed to be so that newbies can recognize supposedly knowledgeable posters, do you think that the newbies would have any idea what the hammer represents?

I know I didn't...but then I don't hang out in Tom's Hardware.

I wonder how many newbies do.

Why not use the Flashlight from Tom's Guide, which is at least at the top of the pages where we post - unlike the hammer, which is on a totally different site?

Razor,

Hey, I'm not sure what you're referring to, but that wouldn't have been changed today.

Derby,

I tend to agree. However, this is experimental. I don't yet know if I'll keep this design or go back. I'll know tomorrow depending upon what it does with a few tests. If I stay this way, I'll ask for a redesign of the flashlight. It might take a while, but it will be better when its done... That is a great idea.

Thanks!
Justin

While on the subject of the forums. I notice there are changes to the graphics. Crisper looking, I like it.

Lol wish i had said nothing now as i think the lolly pops look worse and it looks like everyone has one and they are all the same.
newbies will just think they are a forum icon

although i think the site looks a lot sharper and really like the rest of it.
