Solved Are There Any Drone Enthusiasts Hanging Around?

I'm looking for a real inexpensive drone for a single purpose:

I'm getting tired of hauling out my 28 foot extension ladder just to see if my gutters need cleaning. All I need is something that can go up about 30 feet, take a quick video or even a series of still shots so I can see what's going up there.

I know nothing about drones, so I'll ask a "negative" question just to get the discussion started.

Why wouldn't I want something as simple and cheap as this?

The Mobius and the GoPro are similar in weight and the X101 has no trouble lifting it. I have seen YouTube videos of of it lifting a GoPro fitted to a modified gimbal with no problem at all. I had some difficulty finding a bracket for the GoPro (I have a GP look alike) and I found this one which is yet to arrive:

The camera mount is specifically designed for the X101 whereas I had to modify the battery box to mount the Mobius

Edit: Note that only the camera is mounted and not the entire plastic container with the big screwed on window.

7 minute run time is pretty short, look at this one. Same company, slightly more expensive but comes with 3 batteries.

Have a look at MJX x101. obtainable from Banggood and the price is really competitive. I have one and it is easy to fly right from the get-go. The trims might need some adjustment but that's no problem.

There is an update version the x102, it gets a pretty good write up but its not one I would recommend.

Hey DerbyDad, did you ever end up getting one? If so I would like to hear your experience with it. I'm kinda looking for one myself.

I'd like to hear the result of this one too. I've just received my second X101, I'm busy replacing worn parts and some cracked plastic on the first one as result of a nasty collision with a tree. Truth is I wasn't paying attention at the time.

EBay Australia have this group deal with the X101 and a HD camera for $129AUD at the moment:

http://groupbuy.ebay.com.au/deal?it...

Seems like a really good deal with a camera included.

Apologies if the link doesn't work outside Australia.

I want one for Father's Day but my partner knows me too well and says if I enjoy that drone the sky is the limit!!! Both figuratively and literally :-/

She's knows me too well

That is a good deal indeed, I have just checked it out. I notice the camera is a C4008 I have had two and they both failed. The problem is that the camera is connected direct to the battery so as soon as you hook up the camera is live, if you switch off the quad you would expect the camera to go off too but it stays on. If you forget to disconnect it then it stays on and cooks it's goose. I have a modified mount for my Mobius and it is great.

Ahhh. Good to know Ewen.

How do you think the X101 would go with a GoPro? My thoughts are it might be a bit heavy so cut down flight time.
