Hello all,

I just wanted to give a heads up about long-time Computing.Net member Derek:

This is to let you all know that "Derek" from the UK has not posted since 2 November because he has been seriously ill in hospital. He has now been re-wired and re-booted and is making a gradual recovery to normal service :)
(From Derek’s daughter, Susan)

Let's all wish him a speedy recovery!

Get well soon Derek!

Thanks!
Justin

Figured you would have had your daughter smuggle in a laptop, pretty sure the hospital has wifi. :-)
Get well soon, and best wishes from the other side of the pond.

Get well soon, Derek. The Internet needs guys with your level of experience.

They don't make them like they used to.

Say what? Derek's in the hospital? I thought he wasn't posting because he was so dazzled by my responses he didn't feel the need to contribute.

Hey Derek, I'd buy you a get-well case of beer if I knew where you lived (well no I probably wouldn't) but hurry and get out of there!

Thank your for all your kind thoughts.

In terms of coffin dodging they dished out the big one this time. I popped an Artery and the fam were advised that I only had a 20% chance of making it. Despite starting to cardiac arrest they managed to get the job done and whack 10 units of blood imto me.

Although I'm now home I can helpt wondering what happened to that guy who ran up and down staris, did my pond maintenance and all the DIY I do feel like a pocket sized replica. There's no quick fix it seems.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Wow. You don't need that kind of excitement. Glad you're on the mend. Given time I'm sure you'll be back (nearly) to your old self.

Ditto on the 'wow'. Yeah rehab will take awhile Then you'll be back doing chores and trotting up and down the stairs. (The miracle here was actually surviving a UK hospital experience. LOL) Well I'll have to go ahead and drink the beer (Monk's Tripel Ale--it's a local brew and hard to find so this isn't a plug). They probably won't let you have any anyway.

Derek........I'm VERY happy to hear you're home and doing better!

Take your time, listen to the doctors orders and take care of yourself. I want to see your name on here for years to come yet!

I am the captain of my soul.

Derek

Good to hear your back up and about.
Take care, don't push it, and as Curt_R says, listen to your doctor.

Derek, big surprise you are listening to Curtin, super good station, full of retired TV presenters & radio announcers.
Other high profile announcers include a fantastic retired police commissioner, born in England & grew up in my area.
Karl is the leader & singer in a heavy metal band called "The Filth" & they did selected gigs for charity, when he was commissioner.
Also a super keen motorcyclist, often does charity rides over thousands of km's.

How long has this top secret, clandestine radio stn. been broadcasting? And why haven’t I heard of it until now.
