A suggestion on offensive postings

Hi, I myself find the offensive post button pretty redundant as it is now. How about giving us a chance to say why it is offensive whether it be unrequested HJT log, double postings, flaming, etc
It would make more sense to me. The way it is now, it looks like a hit & miss situation.
Just a thought.

Hey,

Rest assured, I read every post reported as offensive. If you remember, there used to be a place where you could type a reason. It seemed that it dissuaded people from reporting messages though. That's why I took it off.

'If you remember, there used to be a place where you could type a reason. '

i never did see that option before when reporting offensive posts, sorry.
I just feel that it makes it easier to report if the problem was more detailed, why not try that approach again? It would save you time on checking for double postings, flames, etc
Thanks

The reason I say this, is that sometimes a double posting is 'confirmed' but it stays on the list for a long while after.

Hey,

If you are reporting a double posting, you need to report both posts. Otherwise, its very hard to identify. You are correct that a comment system would help with that. However, I'm just not willing to lose the reports that were lost on account of asking for a comment when I last did it (even though leaving a comment was optional).

Hey Justin -

Just wanted you to know I second jam's idea of a dropdown list of choices to report improper postings.

I also think it is a good idea, I can't see us doing all the work by posting 2 confirms for double postings instead of just clicking on the dropdown box....the idea makes more sense to me.

Damn...I just had a "HUGE green need for speed" ad take up almost all my screen when the page went back to the post showing my answer! That really sucked
