Specs: Solaris 8
I have two Sun Fire 280r, one for recording unit which connect with a DVD Writer and the other playback unit. I'm dealing a problem when I burnt my data from the recording unit to DVD-RW disk but it cannot be read in the playback unit. Before this I used to burnt my data into DVD-R disk and it's ok to read in the playback unit. But when I changed to DVD-RW disk, the playback unit fail to read it. Why? Both disks are from the same brand and same format "-", the only difference is DVD-R is recordable once and DVD-RW is recordable and rewritable.

Can someone help me in this issue? The DVD-Rom in the Sun Fire 280r is Sun 10X DVD-Rom Drive (p/n 390-0025).

Old drives like that can't read burned as easily.

You might try the gold rw's. They might have a better mark space difference.

But I'm using Sony DVD-RW. It's a gold disk but still failed to read. I really don't know how, is there any solution on this issue?

Install a newer drive.

Older drives were not meant to read rw's.
