How is you vmware network card configured?
Is it in bridged mode or nat?
Has your solaris an ip address of the same range as your computer?

Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!

How did you try to transfer data with the total commander?
Total commander is a windows file manager.

You can access the "solaris box" by ftp from within the Total Commander, if you have installed and configured ftp server on solaris.

Or, you have to use Samba on the solaris box and configure shared folders in Samba for your windows systems.

You can also use shared folders in VMware.
These folders are Windows folders, that are mounted in the solaris system under /mnt/folder_name.
So you can put files into these folders and access the files from windows and solaris.

Please send a reply, if you solved the problem !!!
