Solved How to install MySQL workbench in Solaris 11.2

December 6, 2014 at 20:13:09
Specs: Solaris 11.2, AMD Athlon/8GB ram
I am very new to the development world and am eager to dig in. I installed Solaris 11.2 and did a pkg install of MySQL. Now I want to install the MySQL workbench. Unless I am missing something terribly, all I see for operating system platforms on the Oracle Workbench download site are LINUX, Windows, Fedora and Mac. My research concluded that Solaris is a UNIX based OS... so is this why I may not be able to install MySQL workbench?

Thanks in advance for any and all assistance with this.

It appears that you are correct; mySql workbench is not produced for Solaris. You will need to run it on a Linux or Windows machine. A Linux install in a virtual machine would be one possibility.
