Linux ubuntu 16.04 is the host OS and for fun I would like to load Sun Solaris 8 as one of my guest OS's. However I am having problems with Solaris 8 loading program not accepting the hard drive arrangement offered by my Oracle Virtual Box. I am not a computer expert but I do understand most things till complicated programming is required and then I become limited based on my experience. So is this OS to advanced for me or can I do this and if so how? I would like to point out that I have zero experience with Solaris but I just wanted to try. Thank you message edited by Navyretire
Does it have to be Solaris 8? Oracle provide a ready-built Solaris 11 virtual machine.
Sorry for taking so long to get back with you, my job keeps me running. Also thank you for providing me with the site at Oracle. No it does not have to be Solaris 8. 8 is an OS I was able to acquire for free. But on to my question for you, which of the three download examples should I pick from (probably the first one) and what exactly is a template? I am assuming that it is a downloadable OS program that is for Virtual Box only?? Thanks.
Thank you very much Ijack. I bookmarked the site you provided and I installed 11 into my Virtual Box. I can not believe how easy it was. I am going to do the same thing in my Virtual Box in Windows 10.
