can i do boot -s on sun sparc 20 and edit root password, as I dont have CD and password

There's an easy way to find out - try it and see what happens.

But I'm pretty sure that when you boot Solaris into single-user mode it asks for the root password (it would be pretty insecure if it didn't). The only way that you can get round this is to boot from an installation CD.
