After running the command chkdsk /p, it ends up reporting that ' chkdsk found one or more errors on the volume'
that is it. Still doing the same.

... looks ok apart from /n oexecute

... which should read /noexecute I am guessing you just made an error typing it here(?)

... partition<2> tells me you have two partitions, is one "hidden" or do you normally see that "drive" ?

... I am hoping that it is a recovery partition so that you may be able to restore your pc to factory condition

... have you used recovery restore before?

... its not a different harddrive you've put in is it? ...just making sure you hav'nt just stuck in a drive from another machine... does happen

... any info about the other partition from you would be helpfull

... Dell computers shipped after Nov 2004 should have the recovery partition.

... well if you're not bothered about losing any saved data, photo's, love letters blah blah

... try pressing "Ctrl+F11" keys @ boot-up
****************************************************

1 Turn on the computer.
During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

2 Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press <Ctrl><F11>.

If you do not press <Ctrl><F11> in time, let the computer finish restarting, and then restart the computer again
**********************************************************
... bearing in mind this may NOT work!

... rather than selecting a "recovery point" is there not another option? .... look very closely

... you may have a "destructive" recovery aswell as non-destructive .... (<<the points are for that)

The program is called Symantec Recovery Disk, Norton Ghost 10.0
On the Menu for Recover data on my computer there are 4 options

1. Recover My Computer: Recover my computer to a specific time and day when it was working correctly using restore points Ghost 10 has created.
2. Recover My Files: using and existing recovery point, recover specific files or folders that hace been lost, damaged, changes or deleted.
3. Recover using a legacy Ghost image: Recover using a legacy, gho image created by an early version of Norton Ghose.
4. Recover My Computer to Original Dell Config: Restore my computer to the way it was originally configured by dell.

I used option 1 , this is where it tells me no recovery points found.
