Solved will system restore get rid of Tikotin

January 9, 2015 at 13:42:40
Specs: Windows 7
While setting up a new computer the browser has been hi-jacked and web pages are popping up so fast the computer is almost unusable. Restoring to a point before this started does not seem to have helped.

✔ Best Answer
For starters download and Save this file (blue download button near top)
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/dow...
It's a free program and very small.

Double click on the saved file then run the Scan. Copy/Paste the log on here because this issue will almost certainly need further attention.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

As Derek says, more work will be needed after we see the contents of the AdwCleaner log.

Many thanks Derek for your reply. I downloaded and ran the program you recommended and it seems to have done a great job. The computer wasn't keen to re-connect to the internet afterwards (which at least stopped all those pop ups) but having got round that it appears to be stable and I feel like I'm back in control.

The Log was such a large document I was reluctant to post it here unless absolutely necessary.

Thank you for your help, and thank you too Johnw

Good to hear. I'm sure it will help you on your way but it does not mean your computer is fully clean. A massive log is not a good sign. I recommend you follow whatever Johnw says when he pops back otherwise if there is anything still there you could find yourself in trouble later.

In the meantime download the free file from here and Save it somewhere (blue download button near top):

Double click the saved file, run the Scan and paste the log on here please. I would be surprised if it doesn't find a lot more.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
