Firefox has been my home browser for years now. Suddenly now my browser opens to the Bing search page instead. How do I get Firefox back?

After running a few cleaners (freebie versions will do just fine), and include ccleaner

Check out this routine:

"....my browser opens to the Bing search page instead. How do I get Firefox back?"

You've been a Firefox user for years & don't know how to change the home page?

Open Firefox, click the 3 lines (aka "hamburger menu") near the upper right, click Preferences, then click Home. You should be able to figure it out from there.

I had to read this twice before I realized that the problem is
described poorly. The first time through, I thought it was fine.

Either Firefox still is your browser, and the home page in
Firefox has changed to Bing from whatever you had before,
or your default browser has changed from Firefox to Edge.
The default search engine, and-- I'm pretty sure-- the default
home page in Edge is Bing.

So what you want may be to change your default browser
from Edge back to Firefox. I believe that in Windows 8, you
do that by going to the Control Panel, then Default Programs.
Find Firefox in the list and select it as your default browser.

If, as you seem to imply, you actually had Firefox set as your
home page in Firefox, I'm curious to know what page that is.
Is it a page on the Firefox website, or what?

My home page is a very simple page I made myself, that is
stored on the computer, so the computer never needs to go
online to fetch it. Its main purpose is to be an easily-recognized
screen that makes it obvious when I have backed all the way
out of a website.

Thanks Hackoo!
I did all of Step 1 except copying and pasting the logfile. Not sure how to do that.

I doubt there's any need for all that. Either your Firefox homepage has changed, in which case you just have to manually change it back, or as Jeff Root said, Edge has become your default browser. If your system just automatically updated to the latest Win10 version (20H2), it's very possible that's what happened. Once again, you would just have to manually change the default back to Firefox. Just follow my instructions in response #3.

To check your Windows version, press the Windows key + R, then type winver & press Enter. Another way to know would be to look at the start menu. The icons changed as part of the 20H2 update. No more silly boxes around the icons; it's a much cleaner look now.

A home page is the page that opens with your browser. You can use any old home page with any browser - they are not the same thing.

If by chance your browser has switched to Edge then MS might have set the homepage to Bing at the same time.

You need to find out what browser you are using to progress this issue logically.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
