Specs: Windows Vista, 2.1 GHz / 3838 MB
i got bombarded with viruses and trojans last nite. 88 of 'em . but, my mcafee and pcmatic said i had no problems. 'puter told me to start up in safe mode when it said it was forced to shut down. system restore got me back, but i've been deleting stupid stuff and things i 've been told were dangerous.

THANK YOU!!!! you are my new HERO! never have i come across a more understandable explanation of... well, everything. usually i can't get a grip on the instructions after a few AV's and BHO's and i go to where they send me and it just gets worse. Help and Support is my favorite place to go hide. and then it doesn't give u what Dat1 is or exactly what I need to do. being 'puter illiterate has been kinda fun, but, i'm really tired of spending hours trying to fix what some stupid virus or whatever thing screws up my 'puter. i'm so excited and feel like i will actually become ok at this because of you. i've had mcafeefor months and today just figured out that most of it isn't even working, and not a hint of it just waiting for me to set it all up. it scans and never finds anything.today it has driven me crazy wanting me to download 4 or 5 things "to get me on my way to a completely safe 'puter"! why not months ago? i would send you champayne, flowers, a masseuse, Heck, a car!!. you rank right up there with my dogs--i've given up on people---- til Now!! thank you! peteykgirl

Glad to hear I'm your Hero, the link I gave was because you asked what malwarebytes was...hopefully you were enlightened with your search ;-)

First of all McAfee is pretty lame to say the least.
If you want to get rid of your viruses try these free cleaners.
1- Trojan Remover
2- Hitman Pro
Run those till they are clean.
Now run these tools in this order:
1- rkill.exe (will stop malware from starting)
2- tdss killer (will remove a rootkit if it is lurking on your PC)
3- malwarebytes (run a full scan) remove all it finds.

I don't know if your vista is 32 or 64bit.

If the above clean your PC's problems I would suggest uninstalling McAfee and maybe even trying Avast Free as it has better real-time protection, auto updates daily and no scheduled scans...the choice is yours.
