Virus not allowing windows 7 to boot up

July 11, 2011 at 07:19:26
Specs: Windows 7
i have a virus on my computer, that will not allow it to start up.
i have a hp laptop, i can press escape to get the bios stuff up and system diagnosis.
i know exactly where the virus is, and when i went to delete it, it closed my computer down.

does anyone have any suggestions on how i could get rid of this, or somehow get my computer to start up in safe mode - i do not get to the screen to press f8.

Do you recall the name of the virus file?

Have you tried >tapping< the F8 key when the computer is making an attempt to start, and get to the Advanced Options Menu, where you can select >Safe Mode with Networking<?

Is the computer a 32-bit, or 64-bit system?

Post back with the info above.^^

If nothing works, you may need to use the Microsoft Standalone System Sweeper program:

You need to use a clean cpmputer to download and burn the program to CD, or follow the instructions for using a USB flash drive.

it was called "rxoqea" -and came up as an application that automatically approved itself.
yeah, ive tried a few times hitting the f8 button continuously, but it doesnt work.. the escape button can be pressed and the menu comes up:
F1- system info
F2- system diagnostics
F11 - system recovery

Ive tried the system recovery and it still didnt work, it continuously restarts and only allows me to get to the escape button page - no F8 is made available
it is a 32-bit im pretty sure.

ill try that program now, and let you know how it goes
