Virus Infection strangling my computer

Specs: Windows XP
Avast has identified 2 infections - both Win32:Dropper - EBF

They are slowly strangling my lap-top - shutting down every 3 hours etc

Avast cannot / will not repair or quarantine as it says file being used by someone else etc etc

Please Help me !

Go to download.com and download a program called malwarebytes. Install it and then reboot and go into safe mode (google how to do it). From safe mode, run malwarebytes and when finished it should allow you to delete anything that it finds.

will give it a go - computer now switching itself off every 15 minutes - thats the problem now

While you are booted into safe mode the virus most likely will not affect your computer, hopefully giving you time to run malwarebytes.

Try these 2 free removers and remove all they find:
1- trojan remover
2- hitman pro

Eventually had to have laptop cleansed - and re-built everything from scratch

Thank god for external hard-drives
