Solved very slow running computer

Specs: Windows XP
Hi, my computer has been slow for months now. It is a compaq running XP and service pack 3. AMD Athlon 64 processor, 448 MB RAM. It has 142GB with 110GB of free space. I regularly use cc cleaner to clean the registry and also the browsing data/history etc and defrag the system but it is still ridiculously slow and I find myself using cc cleaner every hour when in use to try to make it run faster. It's hooked up to sky broadband and they say there's no problem with their service so I'm at a loss as I am doing everything right. Please help????

You may want to look at upgrading your RAM to at least 1GB, it only takes a few programs running now days to chew up 448MB RAM.

Please reply and let us know if our help worked.

'Hi, my computer has been slow for months now.'
So you are saying it used to run faster? If that is the case, go to msconfig and uncheck all startup items EXCEPT your AV and see if that speeds it up....also, WHICH AV are you using right now?
that may also be slowing down your PC.

You may also want to try a quick scan with malwarebytes

and fix all it finds.
