Various Program Problems (Virus perhaps?)

February 16, 2011 at 10:42:46
Specs: Windows XP, about 310mb
Recently my computer seems to be under attack.

Upon opening these programs (and possibly more):

System Restore
Internet Explorer
SUPERAntiSpyWare (NOT a virus.)
Add/Remove Programs

The program will not open, and I am immediately issued a "'X' has encountered an unexpected error and needs to close." error.

This is annoying, and even in SafeMode it occurs.
This problem started a day after I updated my browser to Internet Explorer 8.

This problem ALSO occured a week earlier after I installed IE8, but I was able to use my anti-spyware and System Restore (SysRestore fixed the problem).

Also, the Dr. Watson PostMortem Debugger will error itself if I try to send a report.

On a side note, the SUPERAntiSpyware doesn't error out. Something closes it when I try to get it to run. It's never been a problem, and is actually quite useful SOMETIMES... but is otherwise useless other than destroying harmless cookies on your computer.

I hope someone can clarify this, I've rooted through my files for hours trying to find something suspicious, and I read through the 'Technical Info' in the errors, all of which seem to point to

Something along that.
Also, the appcompat always has a bunch of random numbers, letters, and _s around it. If you look where it's SUPPOSED to be, it's not there.

Oh, on a side note, I'm using another computer. This one is very slow, and I only use it for emergencies like this.
