Uninstalled AVG but Windows Security Center says it's on

June 6, 2012 at 16:44:56
Specs: Windows xp
I uninstalled AVG 2012 using the avg unistaller. When the computer rebooted there was no icon for AVG but the Windows XP security center says it's still on. The AVG is not listed in the add remove programs. How come windows doesn't see that it was removed. Are there register entries that have to be deleted?

Try running AVG's own removal tool, available from http://www.avg.com/gb-en/utilities - that should clear out any remaining bits.

I did run AVG's own uninstaller. So why doesn't Windows XP security center say it is still there? I did a windows check disk and that didn't help. Thanks

By 'AVG's own uninstaller' do you mean its listing in 'add/remove programs' or do you mean the removal tool that I linked to above? - they are not the same thing, the removal tool gets rid of more.
