uninstall and install virus protection

Specs: Windows 7
I cannot uninstall my virus protection or install a new one. I am running Windows 7. What's up with that? Do I possibly have a virus?

The trick is to ensure that the real time monitoring has been stopped before uninstalling. Otherwise, in most cases the suppliers have their own uninstall file on their websites for download and use.

You haven't said which virus protection you are using so it is not easy to do more than generalise.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

You will need to uninstall it properly before trying to install a new AV program.
Though Windows 7 and later are better on uninstalling programs then prior, it is best to see if the vendor offers an uninstaller to use first. If it is a trial version that came with the system and it has not yet been tried then it may be reasonably uninstalled using the Programs and Features with Windows but if you have activated then go with the uninstaller they offer to more completely remove it. Sometimes they hide the uninstaller on their site so be persistent looking for it or use Google. If you still have trouble post the program name and someone will probably find it for you.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
