Unable to use browsers, DEP problem.

July 21, 2011 at 12:10:32
Specs: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 64-bit, AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-65 2.10GHz
I'm typing this from the same "infected" computer, from Internet Explorer, which is the ONLY browser still working. Whenever I try to open for example Google Chrome, I get ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED, AND when I close Chrome, I get a message saying something like this "this program needs to be terminated" or you know that kind of message, I press ok... and in the taskbar or watchumacallit the DEP issue appears, a little "pop-up" that says Data Execution Prevention has closed this program in order to protect you from viruses. Or something along those lines. Yeah... I tried putting Chrome, Opera etc... to DEP exception thingy in Advanced Settings, but it didn't allow me... I've looked all across the internet and many people have the same problems, I ran MALWAREBYTES, TDSS Killer & NOD32. NOD32 detected 1 Genetik Trojan Horse, Malwarebytes detected about 11 threats, TDSS Killer didn't find squat.
I deleted them in quarantine. I uninstalled some items that MIGHT have been viruses. I restarted the computer countless times with countless attempts at fixing these issues, nothing helped.
Anywho, I uninstalled FRAMEWORK 4, I have framework 3.5 left on my computer, but my big brother told me that uninstalling it doesn't necessarily fix the problem, the virus will most likely still be there. ANY TIPS!?

Thanks, I tried HouseCall, and it found one threat, but I figured, since I was going to install a new operating system, the viruses were all going to say goodbye. I have my Windows Vista in my C drive, and I have now installed Windows 7 in D drive.
All browsers are working smoothly now, no viruses on this drive.
And I read online, saying that formatting the OS system would delete both the OS and the viruses, so yeah, I have formatted the C drive, just like reformatting...
So all viruses should be gone now, right?
But like you said, I am still going to run ALL of those scans AGAIN, JUST to be sure that it wont affect me again. Thank you!

PS: I doubt that I had one of those viruses that remain even after you reformat..

Should be.

"PS: I doubt that I had one of those viruses that remain even after you reformat.."
Time will tell.
