unable to delete website pop ups

August 29, 2013 at 17:01:39
Specs: Windows 8, AMD A6 - 6GB website keeps popping up and I've tried everything to stop it but no luck. I've deleted all the cookies including the favicons but this "lumosity" thing keeps popping back up..usually after I closed IE down. I contacted lumosity but they can't help. I've never visited their website before and have no idea how it got unto my pc. Any ideas as to how I can rid of this?

1: Run AdwCleaner
Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on AdwCleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Delete.
Confirm each time with Ok.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please Copy & Paste the contents of that logfile with your next answer.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.

2: Run Junkware Removal Tool
Download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Warning! Once the scan is complete JRT will shut down your browser with NO warning.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Temporarily disable your antivirus and any antispyware real time protection before performing a scan. Click this link to see a list of security programs that should be disabled and how to disable them.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7/8, right-click JRT and select Run as Administrator
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Copy and Paste the contents of the JRT.txt log please.

Adwcleaner did not resolve my problem....I still get this "Lumosity" popup. Seems a bit strange that after downloading Adwcleaner, my pc jams up and when I put it to sleep, it will not wake up either by moving the mouse nor using the on/off switch. I have to then have to reboot. Not sure I want to try Junkware considering the reviews on that one.

"Adwcleaner did not resolve my problem"
Show me the log.

"Seems a bit strange that after downloading Adwcleaner"
As we dismantle the infection bit by bit, that may allow the repeat use of programs, which may in turn pick up more.
Removal of infected parts of the system, may cause other parts to stop working, such as your Internet connection or Services. These we then, have to repair.

If any program won't run ( due to the infection ) let me know.

Junkware Removal Tool is used by most Malware forums at some stage of the clean up process, either serious or minor. Here are a few of them.
