|I was trying to play a movie in windows media player this morning but I kept getting a "this file requires a license to play" message that popped up. I ignored it at first and tried to play anyway but nothing would get rid of it; even trying to play in vlc wasn't working.|
So I (unwisely) downloaded the license and got a warning from avg that it detected a trojan horse...so I put it in the chest and stopped trying to play the movie.
A little popup told me that something called "name" was installed when I downloaded the license. It had a little space on the programs list and i uninstalled it ASAP.
This, though, resulted in just about every icon on my entire computer turning to one of those icons indicating the computer didnt know what kind of program to use for it and that there was not a designated icon for this file. I checked all the way down in program files and EVERY SINGLE icon was gone. This included the file/program that came with it. If I try to open something it gives me that pop-up saying "windows is not sure what program to open with. search the web or choose from a list of programs" and when i choose the program list its completely empty.
I can't open any programs or files at all.
And I don't have the install disk for XP.
