Trojan Virus ?

Specs: Windows XP
computer will not boot up, if I hit F10 at start up and then choose last good setting or any of them it waits for a minute and the then it goes to sleep and just keeps cycling with the same message.

Possibly, could be hardware issue too. What kind of PC?

I think its a virus my kids go on u-tube and other questionable sites, is there anything I can do it has 3-4 years of pictures and a ton of music, my wife is going to be steamed !!

1. Open PC case, look for bad motherboard capacitors, they'll look like these http://www.jebswebsite.com/misc_pic...

Check ALL of them on the motherboard. If they look ok, check them on the add in Video Board (if you have one). You may have on motherboard video (I don't know, ahem, because you didn't supply the Model number of your system....I love it when ppl do that)..

2. At startup, press F12, look for On board diagnostics, Utility Partition Diagnostics, or Hard Drive Diagnostics...and test your hardware 1st. If that checks out....

3. It could be corruption on the HDD (Hard disk drive), or malware. Try booting into Safe Mode to run Mcafee Stinger:http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ from a CD or USB flash drive.

4. TBD.
