SVCHOST.exe infected? Massive memory, tons of IPs accessed.

Specs: Windows XP, 2 gigs and i dunno the cpu
I'm having troubles with SVCHOST.EXE. It randomly decides to take up up to 300,000k memory and up to my entire CPU.

It connects to a ton of IPs using UDP protocols and appears to the best of my knowledge to resemble a botnet. I've run a ton of anti-viruses and they don't help. If I disable it with process explorer it just comes back a minute later and starts eating memory again.

This might be a root virus also.. they use the svchost as a means of communication. And for things like this, antivirus programs won't catch this unfortunately.

Go to download.com and download Spybot - Search and Destroy.. it looks for things exactly like this and will find it and kill it and everything else with it.

Did this help?

Oh yeah, also.. check your network connections in the advanced settings of the Internet Protocol v4 and make sure all the fields are blank.
