Looking for a kick *** spyware detection and removal program to place on our laptop and desktop images. (Win XP SP3) What do you all recommend? It does not have to be free either.

Placing the free version of these programs is nice but useless once the spyware takes hold of the machine rendering these applications inoperable, we need something that uses real-time scanning.

Have any of you heard of Hitman Pro 3? - http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanpro

SuperAntiSpyware is considered to be one of the best.
The free version has no real-time scanner but the 'Pro' version has. I use the free version myself in combination with Comodo Internet Security and never had an infection problem - well impressed. I don't believe in paying for online protection and have never once regretted that point of view.

just be aware that SAS and most other real-time anti-spyware utilities can slow your system down noticeably.
