January 12, 2011 at 08:29:14
Specs: Xp
I have win xp, its not on the Internet, and it doesn't get used except of pictures and an occatioal letter. Yesterday when I turned it on the where "shortcuts" to some of my pictures on the desktop. When I went to delete them, about 100 more came back one. So I kept deleting, and something kept putting them back on and it wasn't me, there is a ghost in my computer, can anyone lead me down the path to get rid of it?

1- have you ever had it on-line?
2- did someone else get online and use it?

sounds like some malware causing your problems

I did malwarebytes software on the system and it showed no malware on a full scan. I tried avg, Trojan remove and hit man but they needed to be on line to run and at the time it was not Internet accessible. I went in the "my computer" and found the desktop file folder under the c: drive and deleted them from there, over 1700 copy of copy of copy. And they didn't come back yet. But I haven't tried to copy or move any pictures. Could something like that happen if the pictures I try to move are associated to an album?
