search redirect virus/bug

Specs: Windows Vista
hello my parents laptop has been hit by the search redirect bug/virus. i have no idea what to do. i have looked at previous posts and tried re installing java and also scanned the computer multiple times with 1.spybot s&d 2. super anti spyware 3. windows defender. i got rid of some cookies and trojans but i'm still getting redirected and pop ups from IE also keep coming up around every 10 min. please help!

Wel have you tried to see if system restore can do the trick? Also have you performed those things that you did in safe mode?

don't have system restore enabled. the safe mode thing didn't work...no script or anything like that just a flash of a cmd screen and then nothing.

no not blue screen like a cmd promt. um a dos screen. do i install it in safe mode? and then run it? when i did it i installed in in normal mode. then went to safe mode and double clicked runthis.cmd a dos window blinks and disappears i don't have time to press Y or anything.

thanks for your help lycan20 if i can't fix this i am to the point where i might format the whole thing but i don't want to waste all that time reinstalling everything.

Well you might retrieve some files if you can install the hard disk to another computer as a slave then you might retrieve waht you have downloaded.
