Search Engine Trouble

June 17, 2010 at 23:01:25
Specs: Windows Vista
This is our second desktop using a wireless connection. We cannot do any internet search on this computer. We've tried Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Safari. We've tried IE8, Firefox, and Chrome. Our primary PC and two laptops have no search problems. I've tried AdAware, Spybot, Malwarebytes, AVG, Windows Malicious Remover, and eset.com's online scan. Nothing changed.
Do you have any suggestions?

'We cannot do any internet search on this computer'

are you saying you have NO connection or just that search engines don't work?

Search engines don't work for us.
We can get to Google and look at news, video, finance, etc. But cannot search. IE8 response is "internet explorer cannot display web page." Firefox says "the connection has timed out."

you obviously have some virus problems. Try
1- trojan remover
2- hitman pro
remove all they find

do the above and if that doesn't clean up your problem, then use combofix:

follow the tutorial carefully and you should be fine

Thanks XpUser4real. You made it seem so easy. How come these programs don't get a higher rating? They solved problems the more popular programs missed!
I will come looking for you next time my 4 teens or wife unknowingly invite Trouble into our computers.

You are a quick study, that's great! Usually I suggest things to ppl and they don't even bother trying them, their loss.
Hopefully all goes well for you and thanks for posting back, it will help others ;-)

You can also uninstall trojan remover and hitman pro once they run clean as they are only 30 day fully functional trials.
